Description

Begonia Pendula Red – Pack of 3

The pendula series of begonia are particularly well known for their larger than average flowers and their trailing habit. Flowers are produced in abundance and hang like little chandeliers. These begonias are fantastic in hanging baskets or for flowing over the edge of pots, where they can gro up to 20cm tall and spread up to 40cm! Fantastic value for money as they will flower from June up until the first frosts. As with all begonias, these are not hardy. Once the frost has blackened the foliage lift and store them somewhere dry and frost free so they can be planted again the following year.

Soil/Position

Begonia's like a rich, moist garden soil. Preferably in a semi-shaded place, although they will bloom in full sun.

Application

Good for hanging baskets, window boxes and containers on the patio or balcony.

Cultivation

Plant outdoors, hollow part uppermost, when all danger of frost has passed. Keep the soil moist and remove faded flowers. At the end of the season, lift the tubers, cut the stems of just above the tubers and store in a dry soil at 4-10C/40-50F

Expert's Tip

Just occassionally, double varities will produce single flowers - this is normal. For early flowering, place tubers close together and level with the soil in tray containing damp compost and sand. Try to maintain a temperature of 7-17C/45-60F. Plant outdoors when all danger of frost has passed.

Bulbs grown from cultivated stock. Bulbs must NOT be eaten.
